Back when I used to work at the Boston Phoenix, there was pretty much nothing to eat near the Fenway. I’d slink from my lowly copy-editing cubicle down Brookline Ave. and duck into Giordano’s deli next door, everyone’s favorite. I felt cool and tough, on the loose from my edgy alternative newspaper job, eating like the locals did and making do with what was around.
